![]() For macro work, I tend to move the camera rather than the focus ring, so Sony’s advantage has not been a factor, for me. I find the CA’s to be much better with the Sigma. The effective sharpness of the lenses is similar in the center (although the Sigma has the edge), but the Sigma is much sharper across the field. I still want to do some 1:1 tests for my repro needs, but so far it looks like a keeper. I went with the Sigma and will write a quick review on that thread sometime later this week. The decision seems to be mainly on whether you need OSS or not, although there is also 100g weight saving and better manual focus implementation on the Sony. Why is Sony FE 90mm F2.8 Macro G OSS better than Sigma 105mm f/2.8 DG DN Macro Has built-in optical image stabilization 113g lighter 602gvs715g 0.02m. You would need to be specific about which lens you were interested in or which lens you are getting reports about. ![]() The old lens changes length a lot as it focuses but the other two do not. The FE 90 has a bit less vignetting when stopped down, but it seems that for everything else the Sigma has an upper hand optically. Thanks all There's three different Sigma 105mm macros, the EX DG OS lens and the DG DN art lens as well as the older non OS lens. The CA control wide open is also better on the Sigma, although the FE 90 is also quite impressive in this regard. 33 facts in comparison Sigma 105mm F2.8 EX DG OS HSM Macro vs Sony FE 90mm F2.8 Macro G OSS Sigma 105mm F2.8 EX DG OS HSM Macro Sony FE 90mm F2.8 Macro G OSS Why is Sigma 105mm F2.8 EX DG OS HSM Macro better than Sony FE 90mm F2. 33 facts in comparison Sigma 105mm f/2.8 DG DN Macro vs Sony FE 90mm F2.8 Macro G OSS Sigma 105mm f/2.8 DG DN Macro Sony FE 90mm F2.8 Macro G OSS Why is Sigma 105mm f/2.8 DG DN Macro better than Sony FE 90mm F2. If you were to draw up a set of specifications for the ideal macro lens, the Sigma 105mm F2.8 DG DN Macro Art (799) is what you'd end up with. Now, for the stupid question: the 90 has OSS, the 105 does not. ![]() I don’t have experience with the FE 90, but I opened a thread on the same topic a week ago.Īccording to lenstip the Sigma is sharper, in fact it is the highest resolving lens they’ve tested and it has beaten the record previously held by the Voigltänder APO 65/2 (see the link in my original post). The studio I work for, the main photographer has a Sony 90mm macro which I’ve used before and it is indeed wonderful, but I thought maybe I should go with the Sigma for a bit of variety, plus it would save me a bit of money if I go that route.
