Depending on the situation, their range may be very useful. Also consider lances that have more than 1 range, such as the Javelin. Everyone else will have to settle for a Silver Lance. The Rhomphaia is, unfortunately, one-of-a-kind (as there is only one Ridersbane in the game), so give it to your fastest lance user, who can both compensate for its weight and capitalize on its ultimate combat art which converts speed to attack power. The best lances are the Silver Lance, which can be found or upgraded to from a Steel Lance, and the Rhomphaia, which can be upgraded to from the Ridersbane. Because there's only one Ladyblade, there should only at most one Priestess actually using a sword. The Ladyblade doubles in power when used by a woman (and Priestesses are the only women who can use swords), and has powerful combat arts that target the enemy's resistance instead of their defense. The Zweihander has a very powerful combat art that adds the user's skill stat to their attack, but be aware that it costs precious gold marks to create and upgrade and is statistically worse than the Silver and Brave Swords.įor Priestesses (besides Celica), there's only one sword they should consider using, and that's the Ladyblade found in Duma's Tower. Also consider the Zweihander, which can be upgraded from a Steel Sword. The Silver Sword has much better combat arts, but the Brave Sword has a tremendous critical hit rate. The best swords for Mercenaries later in the game are the Silver Sword, which can be found or upgraded to from a Steel Sword, and the Brave Sword, which can be found or upgraded from a Silver Sword. Because its power isn't affected by the user's attack, it doesn't become stronger as your units do, but you should use it liberally while it's strong. There's only one, and it's found on Alm's path in Act 1, so unless you have a trader send it to Celica, it'll only be seeing use in Alm's path. For Celica, it's the Beloved Zofia, which can be forged from the Golden Dagger.Įarly in the game, the best sword for a Mercenary is the Lightning Sword. For Alm, it's the Royal Sword, found in Desaix's Fortress. Upgrade one star at a time so as to not waste marks.įor Alm and Celica, their best weapons are the ones exclusive to them. In Act 4, however, Alm will become promotable after a certain point in Celica's path, so it's recommended to do her path first, at least up until that point.įirst of all, keep in mind that when upgrading weapons to new weapons, the initial weapon must sometimes be upgraded first. In Act 3, it doesn't matter which you do first. Should I do Alm's path or Celica's path first? Even if you're not really into the idea of paying for DLC, though, go ahead and download the Mila's Bounty items those are free! The DLC that actually adds interesting content is a better offer, but each is still fairly expensive for what it provides. Fire Emblem Echoes does not have an ultra-difficult Lunatic mode, or any otherwise ultra-difficult content, so the DLC for grinding and overclassing your units is not necessary. It depends on how much you love the game and how much money you're willing to spend, but generally speaking, no. See the Classes page for details on the promotion mechanics. If you want to take full advantage of their stellar growth rates, level them up to 20 before promotion. Alm and Celica, as the mighty main characters, will see a lot of usage, especially Alm, so they could actually hit their level cap. Alm can promote after a certain point in Celica's path in Act 4, and Celica promotes automatically at the end of her path in Act 3. You could consider making an exception for Alm and Celica, however. If you promoted them early and they got all those levels as a Mercenary instead, they could have much higher than 10 speed. However, if you leveled them up a ton as villagers and they were already at 10 speed or higher when they promoted, they would not gain any speed. For example, this is most noticeable when promoting Villagers to Mercenaries their speed will be brought up to 10, which is usually a tremendous boost. Instead of receiving a static amount of boosts, their stats are instead brought up to the base stats of their promoted class if they are lower. In Fire Emblem Echoes, what stat boosts a unit gets upon promotion depends upon their stats when they promote. Promoting earlier also makes the benefits of promotion greater. Mercenaries especially should be promoted whenever their promotion is available, because they don't have to worry about running out of level ups once they become a level 10 Dread Fighter, they can promote down to Villager and do it all over again! Unless you show a unit some serious favoritism throughout the game, it's unlikely they'll reach their max level at their highest tier non-DLC class before the end of the game. For the most part, promotion can be done as soon as possible with no repercussions.
